Hideo Kojima is a gaming mastermind and the creator of the much-loved series Metal Gear Solid. Former Square Enix executive Yoichi Wada has gone on Facebook detailing his thoughts about the recent rumours surrounding the treatment towards Kojima by Konami.
Wada stated earlier this week that ‘however you think about this, this is a negative for business’. It’s clear that Kojima has his support in this matter, and he went on to say:
“Maybe leaving the home console market is management’s plan, but going out of your way to make enemies with the world has no meaning. Generally, this kind of thing happens when there’s a lack of leadership. I think, perhaps, there isn’t someone in charge who is paying attention and laying out all the little details for whole enterprise.”
During the recent Game Awards ceremony, it was allegedly reported that Konami’s lawyers banned Kojima from attending. The host for the evening, Geoff Keighley, stated that:
“Mr. Kojima had every intention of being with us tonight, but unfortunately he was informed by a lawyer representing Konami just recently that he would not be allowed to travel to tonight’s awards ceremony to accept any awards.”
This was met with a loud chorus of boo’s from the audience and to all good intention it is incredibly strange as to why he couldn’t accept his own awards. In his absence it was actor Keifer Sutherland who was brought up to the stage to collect it.
