Gale Force eSports announced that it signed Fan “Fan” Yang to their Heroes of the Storm roster to replace the retiring flex and carry player, David “Roflcopter” Young. Roflcopter announced his retirement from professional Heroes on August 12 due to conflicts with his educational career.
Fan is a former player for Team Naventic and Cloud9. He is known for his explosive burst onto the competitive scene with a victory in the inaugural Heroes of the Dorm tournament as part of the University of California Berkeley team. After that tournament he joined the pro scene playing with Cloud9. From there he has won trophy after trophy at the Road to BlizzCon 2015, Heroes World Championship at BlizzCon 2015, DreamHack All-Stars Austin 2016 and more.
Fan had the following so say: “I’ve always wanted to be the very best since I’ve joined competitive Heroes, and my mindset has never changed. I think all of GFE have a very similar mindset and I am excited to pursue that goal with everyone on the team.”
Gale Force eSports also expressed great excitement about the acquisition, with Ryan Masset, GFE owner, founder and CEO stating:
“I couldn’t be more thrilled and grateful to be adding such an accomplished player to our already formidable roster. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for the Gale Force eSports Heroes of the Storm team.”
