With the next generation of gaming consoles on the horizon, gamers are often confused whether to buy the game on their current platform or wait for the release of their next gen counterpart. Well, Amazon and Gamestop are trying to solve this problem by giving gamers high amounts of credit towards select Xbox 360 titles when traded for their Xbox One counterparts.
Amazon is offering players a $25 bonus credit towards a Xbox One title when they trade in its Xbox 360 equivalent in addition to your trade-in value of at least $25. So gamers need to pay $9.99 to get the Xbox One version. Offer valid till December 31, 2013.
The titles included under this offer are –
- Madden NFL 25
- Call of Duty: Ghosts
- Fifa 14
- NBA 2K14
- Battlefield 4
- Assasin’s Creed IV: Black Flag
- Watch Dogs
- Need for Speed Rivals
Meanwhile, GameStop is offering something similar. PowerUp Rewards™ members will receive $50 credit when trading eligible Xbox 360 games towards their Xbox One copy.
“This is an amazing opportunity for our PowerUp (PUR) members to enjoy their favorite Xbox 360 game until the Xbox One version becomes available,” said Bob Puzon, senior vice president of merchandising at GameStop. “This offer gives PUR members the chance to upgrade their current Xbox 360 game for the new Xbox One standard version of that game for $9.99. This is a great example of how GameStop is helping gamers make the transition to the next generation of consoles economical and seamless.”
The titles offered under this promotion are
- Activision’s Call of Duty®: Ghosts
- Electronic Arts’ Madden NFL 25, FIFA 14, and Battlefield 4
- Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag
This offer is also valid till December 31, 2013 and to qualify for this offer, a customer must be a PowerUp Rewards member at the time they purchase a new eligible Xbox 360 title(s) within 30 days of its initial release and then trade that game at any U.S. GameStop location for the new Xbox One standard version of that same game.
Both Amazon and GameStop are offering similar deals, with Amazon offering eight Xbox titles compared to GameStop’s five. Who will you shop at?
No news on similar offers PS3/PS4 yet but you can bet your console that something similar will be crop up for Sony’s consoles as well.
