Yes.  That is not only Ellen McLain, the voice of GLaDOS from the Portal games, Guillermo del Toro has decided that he will use the exact same synthetic voice filter that was used in the famous games from Valve.

GLaDOS for science!

The movie features huge monstrous aliens, clearly inspired by H.P. Lovecraft in both their size and in originating from deep beneath the world’s oceans, attacking humanity on all fronts.  We first hear McLain’s voice as she starts up humanity’s answer: similarly massive humanoid machines piloted remotely using bodysuits and neural linking.

At first it seems odd to hear GLaDOS and have her apparently on the side of the humans, but the movie could also very easily be seen as an all-out war between effectively perfect biology and incredibly refined science applied on a previously never-attempted scale.  Put in those terms, it makes the famous voice seem downright in-character.

Cross your fingers and hope that she really is on our side, and keep watching for more information as it presents itself.
