According to the series’ writer Marianne Krawczyk, who recently spoke at a PAX Prime panel, a movie version of the God Of War franchise is in the works, but she warns us that it isn’t likely to get the fan seal of approval…
Krawczyk went on to elaborate that she felt each player had a unique relationship with Kratos and that a movie would not be well received because it would not meet up with the expectations of the player.
Universal Studios is currently producing a God of War movie, the script is to be helmed by Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan of Saw IV, Saw V, Saw VI, and Saw 3D fame.
Unfortunately, Krawczyk is not involved, which sucks because the games already have awesome writing.
Now, we all know the Saw movies are known for their convoluted and over the top plotlines but they aren’t exactly narrative masterpieces, so who knows what this means for Kratos and pals.
As of the time of writing, the final fate of a God of War film is unknown – this probably means it will languish in Developmental Hell for quite a while before it actually gets made, which means this could be a long wait.
