After much anticipation, several industry professionals have come forward with some interesting information regarding a PC version of Rockstar’s mega-hit, Grand Theft Auto V.
The rumours started swirling back in August when Chris Evenden at graphics giant, Nvidia, noticed that a PC version of Grand Theft Auto V was listed during a financial call.
“…gamers are preparing their systems for a strong roster of games coming this fall, including blockbuster franchises such as Call of Duty: Ghosts, Grand Theft Auto 5 and Assassin’s Creed 4.”
Nvidia later responded, saying that Evenden was incorrect and that they had no knowledge of a PC release.
Earlier this week, Intel’s Chris R. Silva shared an interesting tidbit:
“At least with Grand Theft Auto I don’t think it’ll be console exclusive very long.”
Silva also told PC Gamer that an enigmatic “someone” had paid Rockstar a large sum of money to keep GTA V console-exclusive at launch.
Allegedly, source code was found for PS4 and PC versions of GTA V in the Xbox 360 version of the game. Strange, however, was the lack of an Xbox One version.
Only time will tell. In the meantime, over 600,000 PC gamers have signed a petition for Grand Theft Auto V to head to the PC.
