Halo 5: Guardians is launching this October so one might hope for some pretty rock solid information regarding its framerate and resolution at this point. The Xbox One has been lagging behind a little bit in the resolution department in comparison to the PS4. Yet after the updates and optimisation improvements Microsoft seemed confident they could turn it around. So surely, the system’s biggest flagship is pulling out all the bells and whistles then, right?

Well sadly, no. Or rather, not quite a ‘no’ just yet, but certainly not a yes. Speaking to Gamingbolt, lead producer Chris Lee confirmed that the game would launch with 60fps but gave the rather displeasing answer that the resolution was not “locked in.”

Granted, this was not a confirmation that the game would not be full HD, but given the lack of a definite answer at this late stage in development, as well as the consoles track record, it is far from reassuring.

Halo 5: Guardians launches October 27th exclusively for Xbox One. Would a lower resolution be a deal breaker for you?
