Halo 5: Guardians will be arriving on October 27th 2015 in several different flavours. There will be the standard edition of course, as well as a collector’s edition. The Limited Collector’s Edition however which claims to contain everything from the regular collector’s edition plus an individually numbered statue of Master Chief and Locke is in fact missing one crucial item. The game!
This beastly edition costing an alarming $250 or £200 does not even have a physical copy of the game but rather just a digital download. Now it would seem, 343 have announced on Halo Waypoint that there will be a solution for fans who wish to buy this edition but also have a physical game disc.
The most important part of the full post reads:
Today, we’re able to confirm that for those who would like a physical disc, we’ll provide an option for fans to exchange their digital copy for a physical copy at no additional cost. We’ll get into details as we get closer to launch, and we’d like to once again thank you for the feedback.
Details on exactly how this will work are not available yet, so it is unknown how much time it will take and whether or not it will delay a consumer’s actual ability to play the game they paid $250 for.
While this is of course good news for big Halo fans who wish to purchase this edition, the fact that the issue came up at all demonstrates an enormous lack of foresight on 343’s part.
