343 Industries is really going all-out concerning the new Halo 5: Guardians. They have put up a Tumblr called “Hunt the Truth” featuring a war journalist and photographer named Benjamin Giraud. So far, on the site are three things: a short teaser video, an audio journal, and an announcement for an upcoming trailer.
The video is short, but sweet and intriguing. It shows a gun firing a bullet at a Spartan helmet… and shattering it to pieces. If you watch the video in slow motion, words appear on the bullet: Son, Abductee, Victim, Orphan, Recruit, Soldier, Warrior, Ally, Hero, Savior, Traitor.
The audio journal could be considered to be a first episode of a series. A new audio episode will be released once a week until E3 in June. The journalist/photographer Benjamin Giraud wants to retrace Master Chief’s legendary life, taking him from savior to traitor, and dig up the truth about what is being said about this once-upon-a-time hero.
A new Spartan in town
The end of Halo 4 showed that John (Spartan 117, John 117, whatever you prefer to call him) is not immortal. He is getting tired, and he is getting old. This strong and silent protagonist has been with us for over a decade now, but Halo 5: Guardians brings in a new Spartan: Agent Locke. For him, our protagonist is neither an ally, nor an enemy, but he is ordered to find Master Chief.
Microsoft announced that a new trailer for Halo 5: Guardians will be released on March 29th, so stay tuned.
