Blizzard announced yesterday that the Heroes of the Storm event, “Eternal Conflict” will be officially ending on Tuesday, September 8, along with most associated promotions.
Players still have a few days to kill the needed 50 treasure goblins to receive their portrait, as well as add Diablo to their hero collection for free with the purchase of either Diablo III or Diablo III: Reaper of Souls.
The treasure goblin mount will remain in the store for purchase until October, and the Malthael’s Phantom mount will be a permanent unlockable for anyone who reaches level 70 with a seasonal character in Diablo III.
The “Eternal Conflict” began at the beginning of July with the release of The Butcher hero and Battlefield of Eternity map, the game’s first battleground drawing from an existing Blizzard universe. Leoric the Skeleton King and Kharazim the monk followed, interspersed with Diablo themed skins and mounts. The second Diablo battleground, Infernal Shrines, was released August 18. Both battlegrounds will remain, as well as all skins and heroes released during the event.
According to data-mined information, the ending date coincides with the release of the next hero, Rexxar, the beastmaster hailing from the Warcraft universe, which should appropriately punctuate the game’s exploration of the Eternal Conflict between angels and demons.
