There are many games in the mobile app stores that let your fantasies run wild. You can slide along subway tracks, kill zombies with plants that shoot fire, and even shoot large animals with realistic weapons.
You can’t, however, grow and sell marijuana with the game Weed Firm: The Vicious and Lawless Career of Mr. Ted Growing in Apple’s App Store anymore. With Weed Firm, you can have the joy of dealing with crooked cops, relentless gangsters, a dancer called Jane, and many other enterprising activities.
There was a problem with the game’s publisher in Google’s Play Store, but apparently the drug references were never an issue.
Apple hasn’t officially commented on why they pulled the app. All apps have to be reviewed before they are available in the App Store, to restrict objectionable content and to maintain a level of quality. As a top app, it’s difficult to see why Weed Firm was taken away, considering many other apps that have similar content are still available.
Manitoba Games, developers of Weed Firm, released a statement on their site saying that,
“We will endeavor to make it as censorship free as possible while assigning the highest maturity rating to the game. We do not want kids playing Weed Firm, but we firmly believe that adults should have a choice to do whatever the hell they want as long as they are not hurting anybody in the process.”
They are currently working on getting Weed Firm back in the mobile stores as soon as possible.
