While Hogwarts Legacy has been released on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 since February 10, those wanting to play on previous generation consoles will have to wait a bit longer. Avalanche Software announced on Twitter that the PS4 and Xbox One versions are delayed until May 5. There was no mention of a Nintendo Switch delay, which is slated for release July 25.
Originally set for the same release date as current generation consoles, February 10, PS4 and Xbox One versions were delayed the first time in December 2022. Pushed back to April 4 it seemed like they would release on schedule. Citing needing more time to “deliver the best possible performance,” Avalanche Software announced another delay to the previous generation version release.

The initial release of Hogwarts Legacy was plagued by technical issues such as color glitches, characters falling through floors endlessly, and frame rate drop. The delay for previous generation consoles could mean those issues were more difficult to resolve for that version.
While we won’t truly know what goes on behind the scenes, expectant fans will just have to wait another month to get their hands on Hogwarts Legacy. Once that time comes, though, be sure to check out our plethora of Hogwarts Legacy guides.
