Hogwarts Legacy, the Warner Bros. Games’ entry into the Harry Potter universe, is the single player game set 100 years before the events of the books. The game has sold 12 million copies within its first two weeks, making it the biggest release for the studio yet.
While it may seem like selling 12 million copies is a great record in itself, there is more to the story than simply generating revenue. The $850 million in sales worldwide comes before the game has left PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game hasn’t released on PS4, Xbox One, or the Nintendo Switch yet.
Release dates for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are set for April 4, while the Nintendo Switch release will be on July 25.
This comes after the last quarter of 2022 where Warner Bros. Discovery lost over $2 billion due to content write-offs. A big win in the opening quarter of 2023, as well as a confidence boost. Along with announcing new content for 2023, such as Mortal Kombat 12, stock prices have started to show significant increase.

Not only is Hogwarts Legacy smashing Warner Bros. Games’ records, it is setting records on Twitch as well. Boasting 1.28 million peak concurrent viewers on launch day, the game is now the biggest singleplayer game to stream on the platform. The official Harry Potter website Wizarding World has also seen a 300% increase in traffic over previous years in the beginning of February.
Avalanche Software and Warner Bros. Games announced it has no planned DLC for Hogwarts Legacy, there may be more content to come after the game reaches all platforms. For more news, guides and answers to your questions on the game, check out our other Hogwarts Legacy content.
