Late last year, an indie game called Hotline Miami captivated the gaming world. With an outstanding soundtrack and stylish, gory gameplay, the game skyrocketed to many people’s yearly top ten list. Yesterday a sequel to the 2012 cult hit was announced complete with an expected violent teaser trailer.
Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number will again put players in the shoes of a bloodthirsty killer. With similar top-down gameplay, this installment will feature some new content and a new story. In Wrong Number, the player will now play in a faction called The Fans. Dennis Wedin told Joystiq that “The Fans really are the fans.” Claiming that the protagonists of the new game are Fans of the original character from Hotline Miami and are taking their fandom to ultra-violent lengths.
With other features teased such as multiple player characters, more mask and even a horde mode, what’s not to be excited about?
We can expect to see more from Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number in the coming months and hope to see a release date later this year or early 2014. The developer and publisher Devolver Digital has also stated that this installment will conclude the series.
Hotline Miami is currently available on PC and Mac and is coming soon to PS3. Hotline Miami 2 is confirmed to be released on PC and Mac again but will we see it on PS3 as well?
