Today, Nintendo held a Nintendo Direct presentation showing off the upcoming The Legend of Zelda spinoff, Hyrule Warriors. During the presentation, they dropped news on a new mode, and revealed more playable characters.
In the presentation, Nintendo revealed that Ganondorf will be a playable character in Hyrule Warriors. Along with Ganondorf, Nintendo confirmed that Zant (Twilight Princess) and Ghirahim (Skyward Sword) will also be playable characters.

Ganondorf will be able to choose multiple costumes in the game. Those Club Nintendo members who register their copy of Hyrule Warriors by October 23 will unlock his Demon King costume. Link and Zelda will be able to receive costumes based off of Ocarina of Time, Skyward Sword, and Twilight Princess, but only as pre-order bonuses.
It was also shown that Link will be able to wield the Chain Chomp, from the Mario Bros. series, as a weapon.
Adventure Mode
Nintendo also gave details on the adventure mode. Using the 8-bit visuals of the original The Legend of Zelda, players will be able to explore the map of Hyrule. Using items from the first Zelda game, like the power bracelet, players complete challenges with unique victory conditions. As players complete the Hyrule map block by block, they can unlock new playable characters and weapons available only in adventure mode.
For the collectors out there, Hyrule Warriors will also include hidden Skulltulas, from Ocarina of Time, to hunt down.
It is good to see that Hyrule Warriors has a diverse range of characters. I feel that Ganondorf will make a great addition to the line-up, and it is refreshing to see that villains from the series are represented and playable. It is also nice to see different types of playable modes. Hopefully the extra adventure mode will be as fun as the main mode, and will be worth the time.
You can check out the replay for the Hyrule Warriors presentation below. Hyrule Warriors releases on September 19 in Europe, and on September 26 in North America.
