It’s available in Japan and Europe, and it will finally make its North American debut on May 6.
As announced over at the PlayStation Blog, the new Vita Slim model will arrive in the US during the first week of May. The revamped handheld is coming as part of the previously revealed Borderlands 2 bundle package: For $199, you get a copy of the acclaimed title, an 8GB memory card, and a ton of downloadable content.
The new Vita 2000 boasts 1GB of internal memory, a new LCD display, better battery life, and an overhauled cosmetic design that supposedly makes the unit more comfortable to hold. As for all that DLC, check it out:
- Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate’s Booty
- Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage
- Psycho Character Class
- Mechromancer Character Class
- Ultimate Vault Hunter’s Upgrade Pack
- Collector’s Edition Pack
Of course, the big question is: If you don’t yet own a PlayStation Vita, is this bundle attractive enough? There’s no doubt that Borderlands 2 is a great game but A. It has already been out on consoles for a while, and B. I’m not convinced that it’s the sort of title that works especially well in the handheld world.
What’s your take? Do you think this package will really stimulate sales of Sony’s high-tech portable? Or is that sucker just doomed?
