Starfox Zero

Team Starfox is back in action, and there are many new features in this latest addition to the series. As mentioned previously the gamepad’s gyro controls can be used to fly, however, during the Treehouse gameplay session we learned that you can use both control sticks to play and use more intricate flying maneuvers.

A new feature in Starfox Zero is the walker transformation mode for the Arwing. Originally designed for the unreleased Starfox 2, the walker will be used for ground assault while the Arwing will be used for aerial dogfights. The transformation can be activated at any time at the touch of a button, providing new gameplay options for players.

Other vehicles are playable in Starfox Zero as well such as the Landmaster and a new helicopter-like vehicle known as the Gyro-wing. All vehicles will be able to transform, one of the gameplay footage reels showcasing the Landmaster’s flying mode. All gameplay will take place on two screens simultaneously with the gamepad always displaying the cockpit mode, while the TV will show a more classic Starfox experience.

Platinum Games has been revealed as a collaborative developer for the game, and it shows. From the looks of it, this Starfox title will be much more fast-paced, an exciting announcement for the series.

Amiibo/Skylander Superchargers Crossover

Donkey Kong and Bowser will be making an appearance in the Skylanders Supercharged line of figures. A neat feature of both statuettes will be their dual functionality, working with both amiibo titles, as well as Skylanders platforms. These two figures, however, will be exclusive to the Wii U version of Skylanders.

The Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heroes

Nintendo’s latest Legend of Zelda announcement is for the 3DS. Designed to be more of a co-op experience as opposed to the competitive nature of games such as Four Swords Adventures for the Nintendo GameCube, Triforce Heroes will focus on more serious dungeon design when compared to past Legend of Zelda multiplayer titles.

According to series director Eiji Aonuma, the game will have only 3 players during co-op sessions as he believed 4 players was too many in a serious Legend of Zelda experience. He did state, however, that the game will have a single player mode implemented as well.

Another feature is the ability to change outfits for your hero. Some suits – such as the one featured above – will upgrade certain items when you use them. How other outfits such as the Zelda Dress outfit, or various other outfits showcased will function has yet to be seen. During the Treehouse event it was revealed that all three players will share the same heart meter, making this game much more challenging.

The Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heroes is expected to come out fall 2015.

Hyrule Warriors: Legends

The Hyrule Warriors 3DS port had a short teaser trailer, introducing new playable characters: Tetra and King of Red Lions, both from The Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker. From the footage it seems that players will be able to switch characters in real-time during missions, providing a new gameplay experience. The game will be released in the 1st quarter of 2016.

Metroid Prime Federation Force/Blast Ball

Metroid fans rejoice! A new Metroid Prime game has been announced.

The game appears to have a much less serious design than previous Metroid Prime titles.

Titled Metroid Prime: Federation Force the game appears to be a co-op experience featuring the Galactic Federation soldiers featured in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. The game will be a 3DS exclusive that will also come with another game known as Metroid Prime: Blast Ball. Other than that, there isn’t much to go off of.

Fire Emblem: Fates

Not much was revealed for Fire Emblem: Fates, other than the American title. However, we did get this trailer (above).

Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem

We also got a trailer for Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem. This trailer did not show much either, but it did give us the names of our protagonists, as well as some of the Fire Emblem heroes appearing. Some of these Fire Emblem characters include: Chrom (Awakening), Caeda (Mystery of the Emblem), Cain (Shadow Dragon), and Tiki (Shadow Dragon).

Yoshi’s Wooly World

Yoshi’s Wooly World has received an offical release date of October 16th, 2015.

Yoshi’s Wooly World was showcased during Nintendo’s Digital Event, and revealed some of the game’s unique features. Some of these features include the ability to create platforms out of yarn by throwing yarn balls at empty slots such as the windmill propeller seen above, and swallowing enemies to create yarn balls.

Also shown during this demonstration was the amiibo functionality for non-Yoshi amiibos. A number of amiibo figures will work with Yoshi’s Woolly World, each changing the colour of your Yoshi depending on which amiibo the player scans. A trailer for the game can be found here.

Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam

A new Mario and Luigi RPG is coming out. This time the moustached duo will be teaming up with Mario’s paper counterpart: Paper Mario!

Both Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi games have been known for their comical plotlines, and from the trailer it seems like fans will be assured that the tradition continues. The game takes place in both universes, with characters from both series appearing as friends and foes. Whether or not Paper Mario’s friends will be joining them in battle is unknown, but the game already appears promising.

The game has a proposed launch date in Spring 2016.

Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer

Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer is about what you would come to expect from the title. The trailer highlights some of the gameplay features, including designing dream homes for villagers, as well as schools and other locales. Whether or not the main Animal Crossing gameplay features will be present is currently unknown.

Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival

Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival, however, appears to be some sort of Mario Party clone. Not many details have been released, and the footage leaves much to speculation about how the game will operate.

Yo-kai Watch

Yo-kai Watch’s trailer shows parts of the story, as well as gameplay elements.

Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash

The newly announced Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash had a short reveal trailer, the only detail really found being the game’s feature of using Mega Mushrooms during matches to grow to gigantic proportions. How it will affect gameplay is currently unclear.
