Just in time for Easter, NetherRealm Studios releases their latest Challenge Mode for the Injustice: Gods Among Us mobile app. Containment Doomsday.
Why is it so fitting for the holiday?
One of Doomsday’s most frightening abilities is that he can resurrect himself from the dead. He has been killed and returned countless times, only to grow more powerful and adapt from each death.
This new version of Doomsday as a playable character is no different. His passive ability – Evolutionary Rebirth allows Doomsday to regenerate 50% of his TOTAL HEALTH and POWER and increasing his DAMAGE by 10%. Not just once, but THREE TIMES during a match. This ability alone could make him one of, if not the single most powerful playable characters in the game.
Suit Up!
Starting today, launching Injustice will start the Challenge Mode. You have 18 days.
You will start with 25 Challenge Credits to pay for each battle, but you will need to buy more in the Shop or earn them by playing regular battles.
There are five series of challenges. For each set of battles completed, you get a part of Doomsday’s gear (Goggles, Gloves, Ventilator, Boots, Arm Guard). Once you have won all five challenges, a Gold Level Containment Doomsday is added to your collection.
But, you don’t need to complete them all to win something.
- 2 Challenges Completed – Free Bronze Booster Pack (worth 8,000 credits)
- 3 Challenges Completed – +15,000 Power Credits
- 4 Challenges Completed – Free Silver Booster Pack (worth 35,000 credits)
Once the Standard Challenge is completed, players can then try the Expert level version and up to Nightmare level.
Uncontainable!
“Doomsday,” as he is known, started life as a cruel experiment by an alien scientist who wanted to see evolution in action by continually resurrecting a young being each time the harsh environment of pre-historic Krypton would kill it.
Not only did The Ultimate, as he was called, become more and more dangerous but also more hateful and resentful of life and living things. So thorough was his centuries of bitter evolution, that he genetically grew to exist on solar energy alone and could regenerate himself – adapting from his previous incarnation.
Killing his captor, The Ultimate was unleashed on an unsuspecting galaxy, killing and destroying all in his furious wake. During his rampage, he laid waste to whole worlds, even slaughtering hundreds of the Green Lantern corps. Finally, on the planet Calaton, he was stopped by an energy being called The Radiant.
However, the Calaton people, fearful that The Ultimate’s soul might escape to the afterlife, put the body in a sealed containment suit and fired it into space. The suit crash-landed on Earth. Rampaging across North America, the creature defeated the Justice League with one of his arms still tied behind his back. It was then that Booster Gold told Superman, “It’s like Doomsday has arrived.”
Indeed it had. In a titanic battle, Superman and Doomsday killed each other.
