Inside, the upcoming Xbox One timed exclusive, has been delayed until 2016.
Developer Playdead announced that the spiritual successor to hugely successful Limbo won’t be making it to Xbox One in 2015. “After 5 years in development, we, more than anyone, are looking forward to the release. We are so close, but getting it right has taken a little more time than we anticipated.”
It isn’t often a smaller game takes anywhere near this long to develop, so it will be very interesting to see why Inside warranted such a lengthy development cycle. Limbo has an impressive 88 on Metacritic and the game garnered a cult following over the years, being labelled as one of the first great indie games. Playdead has set the bar high.
Inside was revealed at E3 last year but there has been no mention of it since, as is the case with other anticipated indie titles like Cuphead, Ghost of a Tale, and Superhot. Playdead has not said when we will see more of Inside but it’s possible Xbox show more at E3 next week. Stay tuned to GameSkinny to find out!
