Interest in Overwatch inspired porn has skyrocketed by 817%

The characters of Blizzard’s new title, Overwatch, are so popular among gamers that there has been a massive interest in porn related to the game. 

According to research done by PornHub that was published on May 6, searches for Overwatch porn jumped by 817% since the open beta started on May 5. The top search was for any material featuring Tracer, one of the most popular characters.

“Cartoon Overwatch” was the second most searched term, followed by “Overwatch futa” and “SFM Overwatch“. Most of the searches were related to the hentai culture that is dominate among gaming communities.

Further research found that the majority of those searching for Overwatch porn could be described as hardcore gamers, fans of role-playing and shooter games followed by casual gamers. Meanwhile, sport game fans and racing fans were only a small minority.

The majority of those searching for Overwatch porn were from either Asia, South America and Eastern Europe. South Korea took the top spot, followed by Belarus and Russia, while Brazil and Vietnam took the bottom spot.

While this may be another case of Rule #34, this has not been the first time a major game has affected the activities of PornHub. It has been reported that their user traffic took a massive dip when games like Fallout 4 and Grand Theft Auto V were released. 

Overwatch is a multiplayer first-person shooter that is set to be released for the PS4, Xbox One and PC on May 24.
