With Microsoft launching its “next” (well…current) generation console, the Xbox One yesterday and reaching 1 million sales over those 13 markets in which it was launched, rumors started about a new version of the console coming in the first quarter of 2014.
A lot was said about this supposed new version of the console, that some apps wouldn’t be working on it, that it would be cheaper…
“While Microsoft will launch the Xbox One on November 22, it is preparing to introduce a new version of the Xbox One in the first quarter of 2014, according to Taiwan-based supply chain makers”
This is how rumors begin, and normally, they spread so much that they seem to be real, something legit, and not something someone simply made up out of the nowhere. In this case, Albert Penello, Microsoft’s Director of Product Planning, didn’t want this to happen; therefore, he went straight against this rumor:
“no. Just no. I’m not even going to let this one get started. No.”
That was his response over NeoGAF’s forums.
