Divinity: Original Sin 2 is coming to Kickstarter on August 26th 2015. Divinity: Original Sin, the original game, is a game that managed to make double its initial goal in sales by reaching $400,000. That leaves fans of the original game to wonder why Divinity: Original Sin 2 needs a Kickstarter.
Larian Studio founder Swen Vincke wrote in a blog post that the reason Divinity: Original Sin 2 needs a Kickstarter is not for financial reasons, but for creative use.
Swen Vincke wrote in a blog post explaining why they intended to use Kickstarter more for creative use than financial use.
Swen Vincke wrote;
Divinity: Original Sin wouldn’t be the game it was without the input from our Kickstarter backers & Steam Early Access players. There were a lot of them and they pushed us forwards in directions we hadn’t anticipated when we started development,
According to Vincke the studio is grateful for the feedback they received during the development of Divinity: Original Sin. So now the studio is hoping to get the same kind of feedback during the development of Divinity: Original Sin 2.
Larian’s is already investing enough money into Divinity: Original Sin 2 to do “cool things” as Vicke put it. They are hoping to add the funds from the Kickstarter on top of what has already been invested to make the game even better just like what they did with the original Divinity: Original Sin.
