At this year’s E3, Nintendo announced a new Kirby title for the Wii U: Kirby’s Rainbow Curse. Now titled Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, Nintendo has detailed how multiplayer will work, and announced that the game will have amiibo support.
During today’s Nintendo Direct presentation, Nintendo revealed that Kirby and the Rainbow Curse will have four-player multiplayer. Like in single-player, player one directs Kirby through the stage using the Wii U gamepad. Three additional players take control of Waddle Dee, and can explore the world, collect items, and grab and throw Kirby.
It was also revealed during the presentation that Kirby and the Rainbow Curse will have amiibo support. Unfortunately, there was no details on how the figures will affect the game.
Kirby and the Rainbow Curse is the follow-up to the 2005 Nintendo DS title Kirby: Canvas Curse. In both games, players guide Kirby, stuck in ball form, through stages by drawing platforms for him to roll along. He can gain various forms, helping to progress along through different obstacles.
Kirby and the Rainbow Curse releases on the Wii U in February 2015. During a Europe-specific stream, Nintendo of Europe revealed that the game will carry a different title in Europe: Kirby and the Rainbow Paintbrush. Rainbow Curse will release on the 10 year anniversary of Canvas Curse.
