Hideo Kojima made a surprising Death Stranding announcement this morning through his official Twitter:
Apologies to our fans, Death Stranding will not be @ E3 as we are fully focused on development. Pls see me with @geoffkeighley on 6/14! pic.twitter.com/w9JfmEOqF4

He followed this up with a more cryptic tweet that included a new piece of art for the game, saying that it was the only new information he could give at this time — further proliferating the secrecy surrounding his much-anticipated game.
Here’s the only new information I can present at this time. pic.twitter.com/jFYc2B0vqB

The devastating news that Kojima and Death Stranding won’t be making an appearance in any E3 conference this year was softened by a tweet from Kojima’s production company:
However, Hideo Kojima will join Geoff Keighley and Jordan Vogt-Roberts at E3 Coliseum Wednesday 6/14 at 3:15pm(PST)https://t.co/jmJ99h7Pta

With that tweet, gaming insiders and fans can anticipate the information Kojima might give during the E3 event. Ever since the Death Stranding‘s announcement at last year’s E3, there has been very little information to come from Kojima and his production company. The only solid information anyone has, aside from the surreal trailers that have been released thus far, is that actors Norman Reedus and Mads Mikkelsen are involved, as well as Guillermo del Toro. We also know that it’s an open-world action game, but that’s about it.
The anticipation for Death Stranding is palpable, as it is the first release for Kojima and his production company since parting ways with Konami after the release of Metal Gear Solid V.
Death Stranding is under development for PlayStation 4 with its release projected for 2018.
