The newest expansion in the Zelda franchise, Tri Force Heroes, is reported to not have a slot on the Zelda timeline.
Why I’m Not Surprised
According to Julie Gagnon, spokesperson for Nintendo of Canada, the Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes will not be included within the already formatted Legend of Zelda timeline. The timeline has had the reputation over the past few years to upset many Zelda fans, and although this game has a bit of a storyline, it won’t be cemented in a specific time or Zelda universe. We can probably fit the game in with the Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds due to graphic choice and the console being on the Nintendo 3DS, but otherwise we have nothing else to go on.
Reasoning
Some of the reasoning behind this choice could be due to how the game is not a real sequel within the Zelda series. Although the king of the kingdom sets Link upon a vigorous adventure, it is presently unsure if the game will even include Princess Zelda or Ganon.
Spokesperson Julie Gagnon stated that:
“It really depends on what the developer has in mind for the franchises. Sometimes you have Zelda sequels and what we have today with Zelda: Triforce [sic] Heroes is completely different and not in the timeline of Zelda.”- Julie Gagnon, Spokesperson for Nintendo of Canada
It’s quite understandable how this game is more about teamwork and less about story development. Hopefully in the future they can include a section of the timeline meant for games such as this or even Hyrule Warriors.

What is your opinion about Tri Force Heroes not being in the timeline?
