If you’re willing, you can give the heroine access to different outfits in Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII.
For instance, pre-ordering nets you Cloud’s iconic costume from Final Fantasy VII, Buster Sword and all. Pre-ordering the upcoming Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster will give you Yuna’s costume from Final Fantasy X.
But wait, there’s more!
Square Enix has decided to celebrate the launch of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition by announcing another special costume for Lightning: Yep, it’s Lara Croft. As you can see in the attached trailer, Lightning will have the outfit, climbing ax, and Riot Shield. Publishers have used cross-promotional DLC before, but I don’t remember the last time Square Enix did so…
Import reviews for the game in question haven’t been encouraging, but maybe it’ll succeed in luring younger gamers into the FF fold. The only problem is, based on that putrid demo, the quality is severely lacking. Traditional or not, it just doesn’t seem like a very good game.
Not sure Lara’s outfit was a good idea
Sure, I can understand the Cloud and Yuna outfits. They tend to remind me of the days when this franchise ruled the world (which is depressing, considering the state of the series now), but I get the relevance. Lara Croft? That just reminds me that Tomb Raider was actually a great game… and Lightning Returns doesn’t seem to qualify.
