Link Is Now Playable and He’s Taking Over Mario Kart 8

Nintendo has given us it's first batch of Mario Kart 8 DLC and we're all going crazy for Link!
This article is over 9 years old and may contain outdated information

Fancy a game of Mario Kart 8 today? If the answer is ‘yes’, then you will most definitely find yourself surrounded by multiple Links after its most recent DLC update. The update added three new characters, eight new tracks, and four new vehicles. The Legend of Zelda hero, Link, is now a playable character who can even ride an impressive bike that’s designed to look like cyber Epona

If this news hasn’t got you rushing to download the new DLC, then just watch this adorable gif and pay attention to his actions on the speed jump…

Yup that’s right, he’s even brought his sword along! Unfortunately it’s only for show, as you can’t use it against other racers, but it’s still a feature that made the fan-girl inside me produce high-pitched squeals of excitement!

Because of these features, it’s easy to see why Link is dominating Mario Kart 8. And not just the game, but even the Internet. Vines, YouTube videos and reddit threads have been made in celebration of this new DLC. One of my favourites is a thread dedicated to the ‘baddassery of Link riding a Mercedes’!

If you’re like me and always want to be a unique in character choosing (although I’m still partial to Yoshi, just like every one else) your job has been made much simpler today; don’t choose Link, simple! But the question is: can you resist?

This is the Internet, there can never be too many Links!
