UPDATE 6/27/13:
Kojima since this post has stated there was a miscommunication about MGS1 being remade again. Please be aware of this before reading on.
Metal Gear and Metal Gear Solid series creator Hideo Kojima was pulled aside for some questions at this year’s E3 by three people. Two of them were journalists and one apparently was just a huge fan. This fan did get in at least one good question:
Will you ever remake Metal Gear Solid 1?
…Kojima explained that he was actually in the process of searching out a studio he could task with adapting the first game to the Fox Engine. He noted that some of the mechanics would need updating, but apparently he’s keen on a second remake following Silicon Knights’ Gamecube adapation Twin Snakes and HD releases of the original game.

I don’t know if it is just me, but I totally forgot about Twin Snakes and that it was a remake of the original MGS.
Let’s be honest with ourselves for as second here.
This is the same man that claimed several times that he was only making one more Metal Gear Solid game and loves messing with his fans. The idea that he has had a remake of the original MGS on the back burner is not far fetched, but the fact that no one has wanted to take that on is a bit surprising.
Twin Snakes was a hit and well received by the media. If anything, this would be profitable for both ends and honestly, I want to see what crazy stuff Kojima would do to mess with the fans of the original. See him mess with their expectations and provide them with some cool new stuff as well.
Give the Gamereactor article a look for more details from the E3 interview. Kojima talks a little about why he did the misdirection involving Phantom Pain, Ground Zero and Moby Dick Studios.
