Sonic Mania composer Tee Lopes is behind Metal Slug Tactics‘ soundtrack, which, like the rest of the game, promises to be a blend of modern and classic just as the smooth pixel art animation is. We don’t know too much about Metal Slug Tactics yet, and there’s no hint of a release date so far, but the trailer gives us plenty to look forward to.

For one thing, there’s the sync system. It looks similar to the mechanic in Project Triangle Strategy where teammates join in attacks if you position yourself just right. It also appears Fio, Eri, and the rest play an expanded role, potentially even going so far as to assume CO influence and powers like the main characters in Advance Wars.

Finally are the missions themselves, which Dotemu said will be slightly unpredictable thanks to stages being built with different combinations of tiles and hazards.

Dotemu most recently co-developed Streets of Rage 4, and the studio is publishing the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge

You'll usually find him playing RPGs, strategy games, or platformers, but he's up for almost anything that seems interesting.
