Xbox has announced that as a lead up to Project Scorpio it will be making new controllers. These controllers will be called the “Tech Series,” and might just give custom controller retailers a run for their money. The first of these will be the Recon Tech Special Edition, which will cost $69.99 USD and ship to game retailers worldwide beginning April 25.
The development of the Recon Tech Special Edition controller was apparently influenced by military technology and performance patterns, exploring “concepts stemming from combat armor and sci-fi mechanical gear.” The back of the Recon has “textured diamond rubberized grip for added control and comfort.” The controller also has improved wireless range and Bluetooth for Windows 10 gaming and the Samsung Gear VR. There will also be a “custom button-mapping feature through the Xbox Accessories App.”
Coinciding with this is the announcement of the Copilot program, “a new console feature that allows any two Xbox Wireless Controllers [to] act as if they were one.” According to Microsoft, “the Copilot feature will be available through the Creators Update later this year.”
How do all these additions sound to you? Let me know in the comments below.
