The very concept of Mighty No. 9 is exciting to anyone who has loved Mega Man at any point in the past. Mega Man series creator Keiji Inafune is at the helm, with several talented veterans of the series working alongside him to create the type side-scrolling game fans have been seeking for years, but without the Blue Bomber himself.
A quick scroll down the Mighty No. 9 Kickstarter page gives a pretty good idea as to how the game met its funding goals so quickly: a handful of very talented people working on a well thought out spiritual revival project.
Grey.. Bomber?
Inafune’s new studio, Comcept, has their heart in the right places and knows exactly how to make the game they want to create. It just so happens that game is very similar to Mega Man, to the point where even the character names (Beck and Call) play off each other as they did in the Mega Man series (Rock and Roll – Mega Man was named Rockman in Japan).
At the time of writing, Mighty No. 9 is nearing $1 million in pledged funds. If you haven’t taken a look at what Inafune and Comcept are trying to do, be sure to check it out. Mega Man may be ‘dead’, but he is not forgotten.
