Exciting news in the world of competitive CS:GO! MLG/CEVO have announced they are teaming up with the X Games to host the first ever MLG CS:GO tournament at the Aspen Winter X Games next year. The tournament will take place from January 23-25 and the games will be broadcast on MLG.tv as well as airing highlights during the X Games broadcasts on ESPN and ABC. 8 invited teams will be competing for a $50,000 prize pool as well as X Games medals.
So far three teams have been invited: fnatic, Ninjas in Pyjamas, and Cloud9. Five more teams are to be invited and will be decided through online CEVO qualifiers taking place from December 14th through the 21st. 128 first come first serve open registration slots are available for sign up and 5 teams will be invited through the qualifier. 2 American, 2 European, and 1 Brazilian team will be invited to compete.
