Playing a mobile game is always a risky endeavor because there’s no guarantee if and when the title will close down. Unfortunately, the long-running Mobius: Final Fantasy will be closing its doors to players in March in Japan, with the Global (American) release officially shutting down officially on June 30.
The game’s developers thanked players for all of their support, saying “We would like to express our deepest gratitude to all our players who have supported us since service began on August 3, 2016.”
Mobius will continue to be supported until the end with the final “Warrior of Despair” story, but players will not be able to use real-world money to purchase Magicite past March 31 in Global. Japan’s in-game store is already down.
Mobius: Final Fantasy is a free-to-play turn-based role-playing game for Android and iOS. Playing as the Warrior of Light, players have wandered the world, meeting iconic FF characters and upgrading their equipment. Like many free-to-play titles, players can opt to spend real-world money for added in-game bonuses and gain a little power in their battle against evil.
