Ever wanted to play an international game that you know will never get released overseas because it just won’t market in your country? No problem!
About 2 weeks ago, Microsoft confirmed that the Xbox One will be region-locked, a tradition continued down from their previous consoles, including the Xbox and Xbox 360. When Sony was asked whether their console would follow suit, SCE Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida stated that he had an answer but was not ready to give it…until today.
And yes, PS4 is region free 😀

Sony has just confirmed that the Playstation 4 will be region free!
Yes, that’s right…REGION FREE–meaning gamers will be able to play imported games from Japan, Europe, or wherever on consoles purchased in their home territory!
[Update]
A Microsoft spokesperson told Polygon:
“Regarding region blocking, Microsoft don’t have anything further to announce at this stage. We’ll have more to share later.”
