With Kombat Pack 1 out and Kombat 2 on its way, NetherRealm Studios decided to put them in a neat, bloody package for us with Mortal Kombat XL.
This re-release of the insanely popular Mortal Kombat X, originally released in April of 2015, will include DLCs and skins for every character.
Kombat Pack 1 has Predator, Jason Voorhees, Tanya, and Tremor, while Kombat Pack 2 will add Leatherface from Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Xenomorph (Alien), Bo Rai Cho, and Tri-Borg (Sektor, Cyrax, and Robot Smoke combined), bringing the total roster to 37.
Mortal Kombat XL will be out on March 1st in North America and March 4th in Europe for digital download on PS4 and Xbox One. The PC version was not mentioned in the announcement trailer and the price for the XL edition is unknown.
The online beta test was announced yesterday. The beta’s primary goal is to create a smoother gameplay experience to decrease the chance of lag.
Players can sign up on the official Mortal Kombat Website and will have had to spend at least an hour in online mode previously to register. Keep in mind, it is a beta so not a lot of players will be let in, but the beta will open gradually to more and more players.
Only four playable characters will be available during the initial beta: Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Johnny Cage, and Jackie Briggs. Again, more and more characters will be introduced gradually. The beta will be available for both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
