My Heart Can’t Take It: Frictional Games Releases New SOMA Gameplay Trailer

Frictional Games releases a new game-play teaser trailer for their upcoming title SOMA.
This article is over 11 years old and may contain outdated information

From the creators of Amnesia, SOMA is the next atmoshperic horror game to come from the team at Frictional Games. With Amnesia: The Dark Descent easily being one of the most terrifying games I’ve ever played, I was a little hesitant to watch the trailer for SOMA.

SOMA is based on the horror of scientific experiment gone wrong. The game has more technology than either of the Amnesia games, which take place in abandoned mansions for the most part.

The trailer starts off with the main character waking up in some sort of scientific laboratory, and upon the discovery of another man in the room, like any smart person would do, he walks over to the monster man and touches his arm–only to discover that the man has no brain, but rather a mechanical contraption lying next to him.

Then your character makes his way to a side room where he pulls a piece of the wall and crashes through to reveal mechanical underlayings of what is scientific infrastructure of the building he is in. The trailer ends with him watching, presumably, his own real brain getting stabbed and destroyed by these mechanical arms.

The story takes a turn for the worse at that point I’m sure, and I don’t know if my heart can take another jump-scare heavy game! SOMA is set to make its debut for PC and PlayStation 4 in 2015!

Tell me what you think of the trailer! Do you think SOMA will be scarier than the Amnesia games? Are you planning on playing SOMA?
