The Uncharted games are the equivalent of summer action movies. They’ve got explosions, humor, action, shooting, and likable characters. Every time one of these games releases, it’s hard not to have a controller in one hand and a bag of popcorn in the other.

Uncharted 4: A Thieves End will mark the final chapter for the series’ hero, Nathan Drake. How his story wraps up is currently unknown, and with the game due out March 2016, developer Naughty Dog says a fifth Uncharted seems slim.

At their core, the Uncharted games are about exploring the world for treasure, so, in theory it could be carried on by another main character. However, Naughty Dog says that’s “hard to imagine”. Uncharted 4’s writer Josh Scherr told PlayStation Universe

“I think one thing that’s been great about this series is that we have created this…I hate to use the word universe because Marvel’s been overusing it, but we’ve created this world where ancient civilizations remain undiscovered and lots of charismatic and unscrupulous treasure hunters exist to go and pursue these. I suppose you could tell a story in that world without Nathan Drake, but it’s…in some ways it’s a little bit hard to imagine.”

Just this year, the Transporter franchises tried to reboot themselves with Transporter Refueled. The former star of the series, Jason Statham was nowhere to be found and Refueled floundered. Although it was a movie, and the same might not happen with a game series, with someone as loved as Nathan Drake, it’s probably a good idea to end the series on a high note.
