“Elderand is a love letter to classic Metroidvania games that allows players to forge their own paths.” That’s how publisher Graffiti Games and developer Mantra describe their upcoming action RPG slated to come to PC and consoles in 2022. Currently, there is no information on which consoles the game will launch.
Elderand features what currently looks to be an incredible pixel-art style. The gameplay trailer released by Graffiti and Mantra shows brutal combat and, what the publisher and developer call, a deep character customization system through which players create a character unique to their preferences and playstyle.
We’ll have to wait and see, but the trailer has our attention. You can see it below.
According to the publisher and developer, Elderand is built around skill-based combat that rewards timing and positioning in each fight. Players can upgrade attributes such as strength, dexterity, and wisdom, and equip items that buff or debuff others, such as attack power and critical chance.
Of course, there are plenty of enemies and bosses to kill with swords, whips, bows, and spells, and the game also features a Lovecraftian-inspired story and art style. For fans that enjoy filling their pockets with loot, there’s plenty of that, too.
Stay tuned for more on Elderand as we approach its 2022 release window.
