The first mode covered is the tutorial mode, where players will learn the basic controls and mission types featured in the game. Free Battle will allow players to choose custom rules and settings while fighting against CPU opponents. Players will also be able to use this mode as a practice mode.

Trial Battle is a single player mode where players will select different mission routes and battle against CPU opponents. At launch, this mode will have 10 different routes that players can select, all with distinct difficulty levels.

Ultimate Battle is a survival mode where players can either play alone or online with friends to take out waves of CPU enemies. It is suggested by that players do what they can to enhance their mobile suits when choosing to play this mode. Extra Wave Mode is a one where players will take part in 3-on-3 battles, taking on a powerful boss opponent. Defeating bosses in Extra Wave Mode will let players unlock various upgrades they can use in future battles.

Last but not least, Casual Match is a versus mode in which players can choose to play 1-on-1 battles, 2-on-2 battles, or 3-on-3 battles. Its online counterpart, Player Match, allows players to host an online room with up to 18 participants where players will be able to set their own custom rules.

A Ranked Match mode, which lets players vie for leaderboard supremacy, is planned to be added sometime in July after the game releases in Japan.

Gundam Versus will release on July 6 in Japan, and at an unspecified date for North America and Europe on the PlayStation 4 sometime this fall. It will be the fifth entry in the Gundam VS series; alongside that, it will be the first Gundam game to see a Western release since 2005’s Gundam vs Zeta Gundam, and the first mainline console Gundam title to have a Western release in over a decade.
