Minecraft: Story Mode will be available for beta play during PAX Prime, but that didn’t stop Telltale Games from showing off customization options. That’s right! For the first time ever, Telltale gives players the option to customize the main character’s appearance in one of their narrative games. This may come as a surprise to some since the original trailer presented that there was a set protagonist. With the gender neutral name Jesse, players can choose to be male or female and can choose their skin color. The option makes sense for a game designed around customization, especially since gender and skin tone don’t effect gameplay.
With this announcement comes official details about the voice actors, most of which we already knew:
“Patton Oswalt as male Jesse, Catherine Taber as female Jesse, Brian Posehn, Ashley Johnson, Scott Porter, Martha Plimpton, Dave Fennoy, Corey Feldman, Billy West, and Paul Reubens.”
Telltale also hints that they will be releasing more details about voice actors in time, but hopefully they will tell us more about the unnamed characters themselves.
Minecraft: Story Mode is already strange enough in that it exists, but with small improvements like this, Telltale Games continues to innovate and polish the narrative genre they’re already dominating.
Stay tuned!
