According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, Nintendo is currently in talks with Illumination Entertainment, the creators of “Despicable Me” and “Minions,” to produce a new animated Super Mario Bros. movie.
It won’t be the first time Mario and Luigi have made it to the big screen. However, after the literal bob-omb of 1993’s “Super Mario Bros.” starring Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo, it’ll please fans to know that this time around, Shigeru Miyamoto is rumored to be more involved in its production.
Nothing has been confirmed by Nintendo or Illumination yet, and since the movie is rumored to be in the very early stages of development, it’s likely we won’t see anything substantial for a few years.
