Nintendo is hopping on the bandwagon that we didn’t know existed and holding their own “mess fest” on May 15th to prepare for the May 29th launch of Splatoon.

Mess fests are exactly what they sound like: events in which the point is to make a mess, get messy, and have fun–which also happens to be the point of Nintendo’s newest shooter. The event will be held on May 15 from 11AM-7PM at the Santa Monica Pier, and will feature teams of celebreties navigating their way through colorful, ink-filled obstacle courses.

Additionally, the game’s Turf War mode will be playable to the public for the first time, and spectators of the event will have the chance to grab Splatoon-themed swag while supplies last.

Are you near Santa Monica Pier and what to be more than a spectator? Stay tuned to the Splatoon website for more information on how you can get involved in the festivities. Maybe we’ll hear something in the May 7th Splatoon Direct!

But if you’re nowhere near Santa Monica like me, there are no worries! You can follow the event via Nintendo’s social channels on May 15th.
