A bunch of people like Animal Crossing. Up until now, you could say that statement and it would be as valid as me saying a bunch of people like The Legend of Zelda. This time is different though. A bunch of people like Animal Crossing, so much so that it has helped Nintendo in a big way. According to figures, Nintendo’s stock has jumped almost 4%, marking the highest close since July of 2011.
This rise in stock has everything to do with Animal Crossing: New Leaf helping the 3DS become the best-selling gaming platform. It also acknowledges that Nintendo’s strategy of focusing on gaming, and not some of the gimmicks that Sony and Microsoft are relying on, is working. Obviously, this news will help to quell the murmurs of investors who may have been a little on the worrying side.
Yes, the Wii U has not been the revolutionary machine that people hoped it would be, but in the handheld market, the 3DS is killing the competition, one sheep at a time. With Animal Crossing and several other big name titles on the horizon, Nintendo’s future is looking good. The rise in stock helps the legendary gaming company to say ‘Hey, we are still here. Don’t believe the reports of our demise.’
Ok, I’ll quit with the Zelda jokes.
