This fall, Bandai Namco will be releasing Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. This sequel comes after the success of the first title, which was reported to have sold millions of copies worldwide. This will be the first Dragon Ball game to release on current generation consoles only. The game will be available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on October 25.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 (DBXV) is a both a fighting game and RPG that takes place within the universe of Goku and his comrades. The game is developed by DIMPS — which consists of developers from SNK and Capcom. Some of the other popular titles they’ve developed include Street Fighter V, Sonic Generations, Street Fighter x Tekken, and more.
Set two years after the first game, players will once again take control of a created player. Players will be able to chose between various races; Earthling, Saiyan, Namekian, Frieza, and Majin.
Your created fighter will join the time patrol, and history is once again in danger of being rewritten. You’ll will aid Goku and company in famous battles from the anime.
New Additions
- The new hub, Conton City, is reported to be several times larger than the first title’s hub city.
- Servers will be larger and will be able to host 300 players.
- The new threats to the game will include villains from the various Dragon Ball Z movies, such as Cooler and Lord Slug. Other threats will be from the new and ongoing Dragon Ball Super anime as well.
- Your created character will have a larger role in the story. There will be a number of decisions that only they can make.
- Based on your fighters race, you’ll have eventual access to ultimate transformations. For example, if you’re a Majin character you’ll be able to transform into a pure Majin like Kid Buu.
- There will also be race specific missions and rewards as well.
- Players can fly in certain areas of the hub city. Player will also be able to find and use hover boards in the main hub.
- Players can access training via the new training school.
- A new expert multiplayer mission mode allows you and 5 others to team up to fight giant bosses.
- You’ll be able to edit your energy blast between power, burst, freeze, and bomb.
- Players can import their DBXV1 character and they will also serve a story role.
- The game will include twice as many parallel quests.

Bandai Namco has also announced a demo for the game. A date for the open beta demo hasn’t been released, but it is expected soon.
