Curiosity killed the cat and satisfaction brought it back! …or not. To all of those fans expecting, waiting impatiently for 343 Industries to finally reveal Master Chief’s face, it is time to stop holding your breath, or you might end up like the curious cat. It’s not happening, kids.
During Microsoft Canada’s X15 event, Gamerant interviewed Halo 5: Guardians creative director Tim Longo. Of course, one of the questions was going to be about finally seeing John’s face. Unfortunately, all hopes were crushed with one simple answer:
“I actually don’t even know if I can talk about that… He doesn’t take his helmet off.”
And there you have it. For those of you who completed Halo 4‘s campaign on Legendary and caught that glimpse of Master Chief’s eyes, do not believe it was letting on about a face reveal for John. It was not.
The wait game continues
There have been glimpses of his chest, of the back of his head, of the side of his face throughout the campaign in Halo 4. There exists a live-action trailer that came out all the way back in 2012 showing John’s face when he was a boy. But maybe keeping his face a secret is all for the better, in the end. A little bit of mystery never hurt anyone.
Since 2001, fans have been wondering about this hero’s face. They can wait a little longer, thanks to new in-game distractions. After all, there is no time to show off Master Chief’s face with the new Warzone multiplayer mode in the game, as well as a campaign twice as big as its predecessor.
Halo 5: Guardians will be released on October 27th.
