Hello Games has released the next large update for No Man’s Sky: Interceptor Update 4.2. Filled with new content, Interceptor focuses on Sentinel upgrades, Corrupted Planets, and more. Released alongside the patch, the Interceptor release trailer shows off the new content in all its purple glory. Here are the major features for the No Man’s Sky Interceptor update.
Corruption has seeped into No Man’s Sky, causing some worlds to be overtaken by crystal growths, including the Sentinel forces. These new Sentinels now wield explosives and flamethrowers. Not only has the corruption changed Sentinels, but it’s harvestable by mining Radiant Shards, collecting anomalous crystals, and harvesting the remains of downed Sentinels. Corrupted planets also feature:
- Harmonic Camps
- Crashed Sentinel Interceptors
- Secret Equipment
- Dissonance Resonators
Corrupted worlds will have their own Nexus missions, and you’ll receive a new title for battling Corrupted Sentinels.
While Corrupted Sentinels are completely new, normal Sentinels also received attention in the Interceptor update patch. Sentinel Quadrupeds can turn invisible, and they have a wider tracking range and increased mobility, allowing them to pounce more effectively. With improved intelligence, they are better equipped at hunting you down.
Interceptor ships are now generated from a pool of parts instead of always spawning in matching sets. Interceptors can also crash and be tracked for salvage, with a unique quest guiding you through the process. Once repaired, you can claim the Interceptor as your own, along with its unique technology.
Space battles have been optimized. Sentinel capital ships can be damaged and even destroyed. Once defeated, remaining Interceptor forces will be forced to retreat, leaving you to loot the freighter.
While these are the two main focuses of the update, there are more changes and additions. To read all that is included in the Interceptor Update 4.2, check out the full patch notes released by Hello Games.
