Do you love Pokemon and Minecraft? Me too! So of course I was interested in Pixelmon Minecraft when I saw it on Google Play. Unfortunately it happens to not be a game. It is, however, a suspicious wallpaper app.
The reality is the Pixelmon Minecraft found in the Free Games section of Google Play is really a set of wallpapers, and conveniently enough they have ads. How lovely.
Update: Pixelmon Minecraft has been removed from Google Play!
If you look at the reviews on Google Play, other Android users echo the same sentiment: This is not a game. What a disappointment.
The app’s description in itself is ripped from a Minecraft PC mod in progress named Pixelmon. The description seen on Google Play was taken from this tutorial page specifically. A bit suspicious, isn’t it?
I cannot vouch for the actual Minecraft mod, but the Pixelmon Minecraft app should be avoided at all costs. The description, screenshots, and actual app itself are suspect. Considering the bait-and-switch tactics to getting people to download it and the misleading title of the app, you should be wary.
This app should be removed from the ‘Free Game’ listings on Google Play.
Should you install it anyway (I did just to see for myself), you will be face to face with this lovely screen:
