Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir‘s has been set for release on the Japanese PlayStation Network with an official date announced for January 14, 2016. This is not a new game, but an HD remake of the original Odin Sphere that was released for the PlayStation 2 back in 2007.

According to the developers the game was originally supposed to be ported over to the 7th and 8th generation consoles, but ended up getting a full remake with additional content such as a new game plus mode called “Xtra New Game” which will (obviously) let players start a new game carrying over all of their previous items and abilities.

A new difficulty has also been added, allowing players to to attempt difficulty where their HP will never go above 200, regardless of how much they level. There will also be a Boss Rush mode, which pits players in a 1:1 battle with a level 50 boss for 30 rounds, giving them a different boss every time. There are no checkpoints and the item box is not available for use while playing this mode.

Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir will release on January 14th for in Japan with a western release set on Spring 2016 for the PSVita, PS3 and the PS4. Pre-orders are already available at the official Atlus website.
