If you’re struggling to meet your week’s quota for glory shots of the batmobile and high-tension bass stabs, WB Games has you covered with the first official gameplay trailer for Batman:Arkham Knight. Titled “Evening the Odds,” the two minute clip aims to set the tone for the newest installment in Rocksteady’s Batman series, scheduled to release this October, exclusive to next gen consoles.
The portion of the trailer not dedicated to highlighting Batman’s sleek new ride and mechanized armor focuses mostly on his villians. The Scarecrow has hatched a new plot to destroy Gotham City, and some of Batman’s worst nemeses are once again lined up for a good face-pounding by the Dark Knight. The trailer does confirm the appearance of both the Penguin and Two-Face, as well as a mysterious masked doppleganger shown leveling a pistol at the caped crusader’s head.
Very little of the game’s plot is revealed beyond Scarecrow’s classically-monologued scheme. Any information on the game’s core combat and other mechanics are also notably absent, though we can see what appear to be driving sequences in the batmobile. Still, if this is indeed gameplay footage, Batman: Arkham Knight is shaping up to be a very good-looking addition to the series.
Any hopes for new game features based on what we’ve seen? Thoughts on this installment’s rogues gallery, or just the trailer itself? Let me know in the comments.
