Outspark, previous publisher of free to play MMO Fiesta, passed the care of their flagship MMO over to Gamigo last week while simultaneously closing down their other games. Despite how it may seem, Outspark hasn’t quite kicked the bucket yet.
Gamasutra spoke to CEO Philip Yun over the weekend, who says that the company is still alive. Many of the employees that helped run Fiesta under Outspark were hired by Gamigo, while those working with the company’s other titles were mostly laid off.
Still twitching a bit.
According to Yun, a small team is still with Outspark and deciding what to do next. The company has an unannounced project sitting in the wings as well as a few other games sitting idle. Whether the company is going to be dissolved or start publishing again is going to be up to the remaining employees and its board of directors.
It would not be a long shot to guess that this is all part of an attempt to rebrand themselves and build a new reputation from the ground up. A fresh library of games and a new name is just the thing they need to wash away all that Outspark grime.
